Every Friday - 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., The House (next door to First Church)
Purpose: To provide quilts to those who are in crisis.
Why: To demonstrate Christ's love to people by reaching out and blessing them in a tangible way.
The scope of our ministry colors a broad area, touching the lives of many people which include veterans at the VA facility in White City, Pregnancy Crisis Center, battered families at the Dunn House, the Red Cross as requested, and comfort quilts for cancer patients.
We take this opportunity to thank so many of you who support us with fabrics, equipment, money donations, and prayer. We are a self supporting ministry and are constantly amazed at God's generous blessing to His ministry as well as the immeasurable blessings He brings to our personal lives.
If you have an interest in becoming a quilter, we promise enrichment and blessings in your life. We invite any woman or man quilter to join us (we know you're out there).

We had a very productive year in 2009. We made 123 quilts, and had an average of 10 quilters each week. We meet every Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
We gave 12 comfort quilts to cancer patients as well as a book "What Cancer Cannot Do," 26 quilts to Women's Gospel Mission, and 15 to various other missions. We have 10 veteran's quilts still to be given to them.
As an extra project, we made 300 bags which were given to our Work & Witness Team, who took them to El Salvador. and gave them to the children there.
We were blessed by many donations of material and three large cabinets to put our material in. Also, we got 5 new Huskvarna Viking sewing machines and an accuquilt, which cuts material 10 layers at a time. It also included many dies, which cut different shapes.
We have 2 people who have long arm quilting machines that keep the quilt tops quilted as they are made.
In September, at our open house, we gave 18 quilts to Hearts with a Mission, who provide housing for 10 - 17 year olds who are homeless. We had the quilts hung on the balconies in the sanctuary and they there presented to them at that time.
At our Christmas Party in December, at Tom & Monti Owen's home, we gave 42 baby quilts to the Resource Pregnancy Center.
We welcome all newcomers, those just learning, or experienced, to join our friendly group of quilters. We all have a good time. Contact Louise Miller, 779-4421, if you have any questions about Quilt-a-Smile.
After I lost my husband in June, 2009, I needed something to fill my time and was told about Quilt-a-Smile. In September, I showed up at their doorstep and have been there ever since. It has been a God send for me being part of this wonderful ministry. I enjoy it and the ladies that are such fabulous quilters.
