WEEK 38 DEVOTIONAL ON PRAYER

“And this is my prayer:  that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ - to the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:9-11

This prayer was from the heart of a Pastor/General Superintendent/Apostle of the believers in Christ Jesus. This prayer begins with a desire that the followers would know the abounding love of Christ. Jesus said to his followers; “By this, will all men know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”  John 13:35. This is not the love the world offers. This love is like the love spoken of in 1 Corinthians 13:1-8. The first four verses speak of love that produces nothing and is unfulfilling. Verses 4-8 describe a great love, a love that does not fail.

Through prayer, seeking the nearness of the Lord, we gain more than sight or vision have to offer. We can gain discernment to be able to differentiate between what is good and even what is best. Our Lord is the source of life, godliness and love in abundance. He offers discovery of what is pure and blameless, and He is willing to fill us with the fruit of righteousness.

Your pastoral team offers this prayer for you, as you pray and continue to discover what is pure and holy.
