WEEK 36 DEVOTIONAL ON PRAYER
“I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.” Proverbs 8:17
Week #7 spoke to the thought of asking, seeking, and knocking, and, if followed, God would respond to your seeking Him. Proverbs indicates that the Lord responds to an attitude of the heart, a heart of love for Him. Furthermore, if one seeks Him with a heart of love, He will express His love for you.
Perhaps you have had a past experience with a person whom you held in very high esteem. And, while in the company of that person, your thoughts, and even your actions, were lifted and elevated to a higher level. When we step into the presence of the holy, holy, holy God, being lifted takes on a higher level of hope, assurance, and peace.
II Chronicles 16:9 reads, “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” Here, King Asa sought to buy power and allegiance from a nearby king in order to strengthen his position against an enemy. King Asa failed to rely on the Lord, the King of Kings, who promised to be his help and strength.
The Lord searches over this planet called earth, seeking the people whose hearts are aflame with a loving commitment to Him. To those He finds, He imparts strength for their needs.
2 Peter 1:3 says, “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness…” Do you need strength? Go into His presence.
